I've got an engineering background, and if I'm honest, I've always looked forward to a new challenge rather than away from one. There's real satisfaction in working through a difficult site or a tricky design problem and coming out the other side with a home the client loves.
As an affordable custom home builder, one of the things we take the most pride in is finding creative solutions that still fit within a client's budget. That's not always easy, especially on a difficult block, but it's where we do our best work.
Steep sites are a good example. There's a common assumption that building on a sloping block means compromising on design, or that the finished home won't look as modern or as considered as something on a flat, easy site. We don't accept that. We take real pride in delivering a well designed, good looking home on a steep site, without blowing out the budget to get there.
That's really the philosophy behind everything we do. A challenging site shouldn't mean a lesser home or a bigger bill. It should mean working a bit harder at the design and planning stage so the client still gets what they came to us for in the first place, a home that suits their life and their budget.
