We're at our Point Avenue project in North Shore today, one of our custom projects for a client who was looking to downsize without giving up the things that matter to them.
The really unique part of this design is the reverse living layout. Instead of the usual arrangement, the kitchen and main living areas sit upstairs, so the family gets to enjoy the bay views from the rooms they spend the most time in.
Natural elements were a priority throughout. The client wanted a big timber post as a feature, along with natural flooring and plenty of natural timber products through the home. It gives the place real warmth alongside those views.
One of the standout features is the lift, positioned in the downstairs living room and connecting through to the upstairs living area. It is a small addition that makes a big difference, helping the clients move through the home easily now and into the next stage of life.
We also spent a lot of time getting the orientation right, positioning the house and balcony to maximise the views, with open living areas, plenty of natural light, and big windows framing the ocean outlook.
This is what we enjoy most as a custom home builder, taking a brief like downsizing and turning it into a home that is genuinely unique to the people living in it, whether the block is flat or a steep site.
