Think about a typical Geraldton week. Where do you spend your evenings? Are the kids running between bedrooms or sprawled across one big living space? Does the family eat at a dining table, around the kitchen bench, or out on the deck most nights of the week? Who works from home, and where do they go to do it? Is there a relative who comes to stay often, or might one move in down the track?
That's the real brief. A four-bedroom house that doesn't suit how your family lives is just a four-bedroom house. A unique home shaped around your daily routine — that's worth the effort of building.
I always tell clients to get the whole household around the kitchen table for a proper brainstorm before we ever talk about plans. Everyone gets a list. Mum wants a study with proper light. The teenager wants a room their mates can crash in. Dad wants a quiet spot for the weekend cricket. Nobody is going to get the lot, but you can't negotiate what you haven't said out loud yet.
Once we know the lifestyle, the design almost writes itself. A family that lives outdoors most of the year needs a covered deck that flows straight off the kitchen, not a poky alfresco bolted onto the back. A couple downsizing wants single-level living and clever storage, not a guest suite they'll never use. A work-from-home household needs a real office with a door that closes.
This is what I mean when I call us a lifestyle focused, customer focused Geraldton builder. Square metres come last, once we've worked out how the home should actually feel.
